Mark of the Beast is Borrowed Imagery from the Old Testament

New Testament Imagery of the “Mark of the Beast”/Seal
·        Revelation 14:9-12 9 A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: “If anyone WORSHIPS the beast and its image AND receives its mark on their forehead or on their hand, 10 they, too, will drink the wine of God’s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. They will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever. There will be no rest day or night for those who WORSHIP the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.” 12 This calls for patient endurance on the part of the people of God who keep his commands and remain faithful to Jesus

·        Revelation 17:5 5 And on her forehead was written a name of mystery: “Babylon the great, mother of prostitutes and of earth's abominations.”

·        Revelation 7:3 3 saying, “Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.”

·        Revelation 9:4 4 They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any green plant or any tree, but only those people who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads.

·        Revelation 14:1 1Then I looked, and behold, on Mount Zion stood the Lamb, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father's name written on their foreheads.

·        Revelation 22:4 4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.

·        Ephesians 1:13 13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit

·        Ephesians 4:30 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

·        Revelation 3:12 12 The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will they leave it. I will write on them the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on them my new name.

Old Testament Imagery of the “Mark of the Beast”

·        Exodus 13:9 9 This observance (Sabbath) will be for you like a sign on your hand and a reminder on your forehead that this law of the Lord is to be on your lips. For the Lord brought you out of Egypt with his mighty hand.

·        Exodus 13:16 16 And it will be like a sign on your hand and a symbol on your forehead that the Lord brought us out of Egypt with his mighty hand.”

·        Deuteronomy 6:4-9 4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

·        Deuteronomy 11:18-21 18 Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 19 Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 20 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates, 21 so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth

·        Ezekiel 9:4 4 and said to him, “Go throughout the city of Jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads of those who grieve and lament over all the detestable things that are done in it.”

As we can see, the Mark of the Beast is borrowed imagery from the Old Testament. It is symbolic representation of one's allegiance and worship. It is not a literal mark that will be stamped on people’s hands and foreheads. It is not a microchip. The Jews poor understanding resulted in the Pharisees creating phylacteries in order to show their flesh driven religious fervor to the community. Sadly this poor understanding is being repeated by modern believers with a physical Mark of the Beast. In addition, we can see that the Holy Spirit uses a seal too. It is not a literal mark/seal. The Mark of the Beast is “The Anti-Holy Spirit seal of allegiance.”This makes sense when we notice that there is an Unholy Trinity in Revelation-Satan the Dragon, Beast of the Sea, and the Beast of the Land.
