                                            Romans 8:19-25 and the Ktisis Deception

 Romans 8:19-25 is not about the land and sea groaning for universal restoration. This is about the unbelieving Gentile nations longing for salvation and the Church being used as an instrument of hope in order to draw them into New Jerusalem Kingdom. This occurred in 70AD.With the exception of Romans 1:20, which mentions the Creation of the World, the other usages in Romans should be creature or man, not a land and sea creation! See below.

 

Romans 8:19-22 King James Version 19 For the earnest expectation of the creature (ktisis) waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.20 For the creature (ktisis) was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, 21 Because the creature (ktisis) itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation (ktisis) groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. 23 And not only THEY, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. 24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? 25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

NOTE: ESV has a New Creation. Creature and Creation can be used interchangeably.

NOTE: Creature doesn't mean sheep and goats. Context matters. It can refer to humans as well.

NOTE: It is ordinance in KJV. Ktisis refers to humans as well.

NOTE: Jesus is called the firstborn of every CREATURE. See also Revelation 3:14.

The Geneva Bible of 1587, Bishops' Bible of 1568, Coverdale Bible of 1535, Tyndale Bible of 1526, Douay-Rheims Bible, Catholic Public Domain Version , and the Anderson New Testament translation  has CREATURE from Romans 8:19-22, but only the Geneva Bible of 1587 keeps CREATURE in verse 23. The Lamsa Bible uses man/mankind from Romans 8:19-21, but falls prey to the deception in Romans 8:22. However, in Romans 8:23, THEY is a reference to mankind.

NOTE: The creation is the Gentile nations. If this was really about the worldly creation (the land and sea) groaning in a figurative sense, verse 23 would have said "NOT ONLY IT, BUT OURSELVES ALSO." It says THEY indicating people!! The unbelieving Gentile nations await the revelation of the sons and daughters of the New Covenant in 70AD. God will the Nations to come to the New Covenant saints-New Jerusalem. See Revelation 21:26.

Revelation 12 V1-2: We see the same imagery of Joseph’s dream here in Genesis 37:9-11.
