The Covenantal Overlap/Transition Period: The Ages in the Bible

Whenever, you see the phrase "The Ages" in the Bible, it is referring to the time that Jesus died on the cross and established an overlap between both New and Old Covenant. This is also referred to as the transition period. See Hebrews 8:13. Sometimes translators erroneous write "worlds" or "universe." It should says ages because that is how the writers describe the time: The Old Covenant Age and New Covenant Age. This transition period ended in 70AD when the Temple was destroyed. Jesus is the beginning of God's New Covenant Creation.

Revelation 3:14 English Standard Version To the Church in Laodicea 14 “And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: ‘The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God's creation.

NOTE: Jesus is the first to be glorified and he is creating a new people committed to God the Father.

Ephesians 3:8-9 English Standard Version 8 To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, 9 and to bring to light for everyone what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God, who created all things,

NOTE: Jesus has revealed the mystery of the Jews/Israelites and Gentiles being one in God.

2 Timothy 1:8-9 English Standard Version 8 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, 9 who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began

NOTE: This is talking about Jesus' ministry before his death

Hebrews 1:2 New Heart English Bible in these last days has spoken to us by a Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the ages.

NOTE: Jesus brought forth or established this covenantal overlap.

Hebrews 9:26 English Standard Version for then he would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world. But as it is, he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

NOTE: At 70AD, Jesus will complete the Day of Atonement Sacrifice in Heaven. See Ezekiel 45-46, Hebrews 9:11-12, Leviticus 16.

Hebrews 11:3 New Heart English Bible By faith, we understand that the ages were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen has not been made out of things which are visible.

NOTE: See Revelation 3:14. Jesus' coming brought forth the New Covenant Creation.

Colossians 1:24-26 English Standard Version 24 Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in Christ's afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church, 25 of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God that was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known, 26 the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints.

NOTE: Jesus has revealed the mystery of the Jews/Israelites and Gentiles being one in God. Now, he is handing this responsibility to Paul to share with the Gentiles.
