Fruit of the Spirit in the Old Testament
Galatians 5:22-25 22 But
the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there
is no law. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified
the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live by the
Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.

Isaiah 11:1-5 1 There shall come
forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots shall bear
fruit. 2 And the Spirit of
the Lord shall rest upon him, the
Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the
fear of the Lord. 3 And his delight shall be in the fear of
the Lord. He shall not judge by what his eyes see, or decide disputes by what
his ears hear, 4 but with righteousness
he shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth; and he shall strike
the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall
kill the wicked. 5 Righteousness
shall be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt of his loins.

Isaiah 32:15-18 15 until the Spirit is poured upon
us from on high, and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field, and the fruitful field is deemed a forest.
16 Then justice will
dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness
abide in the fruitful field. 17 And the effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of
righteousness, quietness and trust
forever. 18 My people will abide in a peaceful habitation, in secure dwellings, and in quiet resting
places.

Isaiah 44:2-4 2 Thus says the Lord
who made you, who formed you from the womb and will help you: Fear not, O Jacob
my servant, Jeshurun whom I have chosen. 3 For I will pour water on
the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.
4 They shall spring up
among the grass like willows by flowing streams.

Isaiah 57:15-19 15 For thus says the
One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I
dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and
to revive the heart of the contrite. 16 For I will not
contend forever, nor will I always be angry; for the spirit would grow faint
before me, and the breath of life that I made. 17 Because of the
iniquity of his unjust gain I was angry, I struck him; I hid my face and was
angry, but he went on backsliding in the way of his own heart. 18 I
have seen his ways, but I will heal
him; I will lead him and restore comfort to him and his mourners, 19
creating the fruit of the lips.
Peace, peace, to the far and to the near,” says the Lord, “and I will heal him.

Joel 2:28-32 28 “And it shall come to
pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams,
and your young men shall see visions. 29 Even on the male and female
servants in those days I will pour
out my Spirit. 30 “And I will show wonders in the heavens
and on the earth, blood and fire and columns of smoke. 31 The sun
shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the great and
awesome day of the Lord comes. 32 And it shall come to pass that
everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. For in Mount Zion
and in Jerusalem there shall be those who escape, as the Lord has said, and
among the survivors shall be those whom the Lord calls.
