Isaiah 8:12-13 & 1 Peter 3:14-15-Jesus is NOT Yahweh

Isaiah 8:12-13 English Standard Version 12 “Do not call conspiracy all that this people calls conspiracy, and do not fear what they fear, nor be in dread. 13 But the Lord of hosts, him you shall honor as holy. Let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.

1 Peter 3:14-15 English Standard Version 14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, 15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect

When we see Yahweh passages being applied to Jesus in order to say he is God, we are committing a false equivalence fallacy. This is like saying the Law of God (1 Chronicles 16:40) and the Law of Moses (2 Chronicles 30:16) makes Moses into God himself. God the Father is giving His glory to His Son (not to false gods/idols according to context). Jesus SHARES the authority of the Father. Sharing authority doesn't make you the actual being. When Jesus got exalted and glorified, he shared the authority of the Father.

Peter did not use Isaiah 8:13 to say that the Father and Jesus are God. It is saying that Christians should honor Jesus in their hearts as Exalted Lord during times of suffering-invading Roman armies. Likewise, in Isaiah, those who were faithful to God were called to honor Him before the invading Babylonian armies/exile. It is common for New Testament writers to use Old Testament verses to explain things in a different manner. One notable example is Hoses 11:1 and Matthew 2:15.
